    • Thank you Arlene, . . . that’s probably because it ‘IS’ ‘IT’ … hahah. I’ve been doing alot of paintings based on KINGS work. This is the scene from the novel, in the macroverse.

      • haha ya I realized it was Pennywise after the fact… Great movie, although I never got around to reading the book, do they differ drastically?

    • Thanks Arlene, sorry i’ve been extremely busy. I’m actually going to take the time to paint today. . . so new pieces will pop up here finally.

And to answer your query, the Novel is infinitely more haunting. They couldn’t do the novel justice without making a hard R (NC17) series of films. It’s not their fault, the book deals with very taboo subjects, and the least of them is the monster itself, which almost serves as a metaphor throughout. If the film ever gets made, it will need a master director, like Kubrick or Fincher, and it will have to be unchained. To capture the narrative, you’d need at least three films..three looong films. Cary Fukunaga is a brilliant young director, he worked on the screenplay for years, a loyal adaptation that didn’t hold back…and the producers in their infinite wisdom tried to smash it…he walked…and that is a major loss because the guy would have delivered an epic I have no doubt. Much like all of Kings work, it really doesn’t get the big budget treatment it deserves. IT, along with the Dark Tower and The Stand, are three works that absolutely cannot be done without some serious talent involved, without that, it’s just insulting to the source material. You’d be astonished by how different the novel is in comparison to the made for t.v. film, it’s nothing like it for the most part, and it’s a shame that many remember IT for the film…there jaw would drop if they read the book. Trust me, watching the film didn’t give away or ruin anything worth while…you’ll be constantly surprised while reading it.

  1. Extremely altered…. The film is entertainment…the book is a masterpiece. I’d say the film captures about 20%…They tried..but you can’t do a film based on the novel without it being hard R and at least three films @ 3.5 hours each. It really has hundreds of pages of haunting scenes, and very taboo subjects, that there was no way they could have gotten away with showing on a made for T.V. film. If the book ever gets made, it needs a master director like Kubrick, and the producers need to have the balls to keep it accurate to what was written..the novel is powerful for many reasons other than the monster itself, it’s a coming of age story, and it doesn’t play nice.
